Is it a fairly new driver, do you know? I was looking at 2.6.16 when I
said it was present - if the driver is new, 2.6.11 might not have it...
Looks like it first appears in 2.6.12 as "Intel HD Audio (NEW)".
So to return to my original question, isn't there a small hole in the
{B}LFS books? I installed from the stable LFS book v6.1.1, which uses
kernel version 2.6.11.12, which doesn't support Intel HD Audio. So I was
never going to get ALSA working without getting a more recent version of
the kernel, or installing the driver as a module. I can't see anywhere in
either the stable or development BLFS book where it warns about this.
(Apologies in advance if I've overlooked something.)
