Obviously not, and I'm certainly not suggesting that it should. But it does say "The Linux kernel now provides ALSA support by default", end of story, and it's easy (for me, anyway) to misread this as implying "in this case - unlike eg network cards - you don't need to worry about getting the appropriate driver from elsewhere". (If I was feeling stroppy I would argue that this wasn't even a misreading :-)

Anyway, this isn't a big issue for me personally, and if I'm only person who's ever been caught by this, apologies for the waste of bandwidth.
