Folks,

I just installed LFS 6.2 and a good number of the latest development
release blfs packages. I noticed that while uncompressing, compiling,
or installing software in the console, that my mouse sometimes becomes
slow to respond. I'm using GPM 1.20.1. I did see this issue while
using the LFS LiveCD to setup the system initially. Now that I've got
XFree86 and KDE up and running successfully, I've noticed the same
thing happens to the mouse there. In addition, after installing XMMS,
I've found that playing CDs or MP3s and streaming audio will stop and
hang in the middle of me browsing with Konquerer or compiling software
in Konsole.

My first thought was that there was performance issues, but I'm
running on an Athlon XP 2800+ with 1 gig of RAM and a GeForce 6600GT
(On a NForce2 MB). The only weak link is the hard drive. It's 15GB,
4-5 years old, and formatted with ext3 (I haven't installed hdparm
yet). After some research, I found out that when I run xmms as root
and set the priority to anything less than 0, it seems to prevent the
audio from failing.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Sean de la Haye
