I think Firefox itself is O.K but it won't load yet. I get a "XML Parsing Error: undefined entity.
> Location: chrome://browser/content/browser.xul"
.." message and then it stops. Googling
shows me this is a very common error, am looking into it...

Funny, I have looked into this someway and can't make any sense of why this should be happening. browser.xul is, I believe, stored inside /usr/lib/firefox-2.0/chrome/browser.jar.

But I somehow doubt if the error is actually in that file... This was a checked tarball from the mozilla site and googling for this error shows nothing for this particular case. It does show that some of the extensions/plugins cause a similar error but this is a virgin install on a virgin box with no firefox history in /~. Starting firefox with -safe-mode does not help...

I have re-built FF a few times with new tarballs etc... The only thing I think might be a clue to the problem is that I can't complete the firefox build if I enable ac_add_options --enable-libxul; the build crashes, but I wasn't sure if I really needed this lib so I left the switch out of my .mozconfig.

Anyone got any smart ideas?

Cheers

Al
