Since you want the sendmail binary, I'd say postfix, but I'm no MTA guru. I just installed it a couple times yesterday, and it will pretty much do what you want out of the box. If all you're doing is sending mail from local users, then you can ignore all the optional dependencies. I think you'd be up and running just following the config settings in BLFS, too: just setup the alias database and set myhostname.
