I have installed most of gnome-2.18 with the current instructions of the
blfs-svn book. I have changed instructions only in one point
instead of --sysconfdir=/etc/gnome/2.14.3 I have taken
--sysconfdir=/etc/gnome and kept this consistent to all packages that
needed this change.

When I start gnome-session I have a warning that gconf is not correctly
configured or metacity is not installed (it is). My cursor movements are
strange. Too much speed and acceleration makes it allmost unusable.
After playing with gnome-mouse-properties it becomes too slow and
allmost no acceleration. My settings are lost when I return to gnome.

Any clues?

I was wondering when there are instructions for gnome-2.18 coming out.
Is only one person working on this in silence?
I thought svn-versions are a playground to try out new stuff?
Just through out what you've got and I will be happy to test it over and
over again. ...

Yeh, I only recently got my gnome to work correctly. It involved a number of
problems, such as liboil-0.3.11 being broken if compiled with SSE
support(had to patch it to remove it from the makefile), which in turn made
gstreamer unusable, which in turn made a weird error about gnome-session not
being started properly. Also, if I'm right, the latest gnome-control-center
doesn't install gnome-session. You have to explicitly go into the directory
and install it...
