I'm not really a gnome user, just a user of gnome applications.
That means I don't build things I don't need/want, and I certainly
avoid the gnome desktop.
I avoid hal at all costs, and therefore I don't build
python-gnome-desktop. Dbus has never caused me any problems, I'm
using 1.0.2 and dbus-glib-0.73. That's not to say that it works,
it's only there as a build dependency, I avoid software that says
things like "you have inserted a {CD,camera,memorystick}, I imagine
you want to do this with it".
