man comm says:
comm - compare two sorted files line by line

Note, comm compares _sorted_ files. It works fine with the example
Peter gave but another one may give wrong output:

$ cat 1  
A
B
$ cat 2
B
A
$ comm 1 2 |sed 's/^\t*//'
A
B
A
