Very familiar - I have the same problem on 2.10 right now - but no, I don't know of a fix. It's strange - I've always found Evolution pretty reliable when using a distro, but the calendar and addressbook are typical unusable when built from source. I guess either the distros must patch the hell out of it to get something functional, or they build it in some non-default manner that works more reliably... Simon.
