This is the wrong list (BLFS), but I'm not sure which is the correct
list. Building on x86_64 is, at the moment, only supported by CLFS
and that uses a different method (either real cross-compiling, or
faking a cross-compile) and different packages. Hopefully, the Live
CD has its own version of the book which will tell you where to ask
for help.

I have to assume that in "Adjusting the Toolchain" you either
followed inappropriate instructions (e.g. for x86/i686), or you made
a mistake - I think this is the first package you try to compile
after the adjustment.
I'm not familiar with the contents of the Live CD you are using, and
all my recent x86_64 builds have used CLFS.
