Hello All,

I installed alsa as instructed in BLFS and I believe ran the install
bootscript as well. I also tried to force the
device/card numbering according to my needs (0 being the PCI sound card
and 1 being the TV sound card
(as in cx88-alsa) ) using options in /etc/modprobe.conf but now when I
list cards according to alsa I get
0 being my SBLive! (this I wanted) and 1 is a "Dummy" card (this I did
not) with no mention of the cx2388
based PCI TV card (no blackbird encoder) whatsoever. Any idea what Im
doing wrong? Someone told me
I should use alsa-config and add it as an entry in the config file but I
fail to understand how this allows access
and I have my doubts that it is the whole story since the card doesn't
appear at all and the cx88-alsa kernel module appears to install without
complaint.

Multimedia video controller: Conexant CX23880/1/2/3 PCI Video and
Audio Decoder (rev 05)

Note that an AUDIO as well as a video decoder are mentioned via lspci

Many thanks,

John
