Xorg is targeting Linux distributions.  Most of the dropped apps are 
never installed by a distribution, this includes bdftopcf and twm, 
though we've left those two in BLFS because they are still needed to 
build and test the system.  Most of the dropped apps are still perfectly 
valid, and continue to be developed.  They are just not a part of the 
'official' Xorg distribution as they are not needed/used by Linux 
distributions.  Though I haven't tested, the existing instructions are 
probably good for any of the apps that were dropped between versions.
