For reference, this problem has been traced to a bug in nspr, and has been fixed in 4.8. Was a little fiddly to install though, since they don't seem to be doing the combined NSS/NSPR tarballs that BLFS uses anymore... can provide the instructions and patches I used if anyone wants them... Simon.
