I disagree. Up to now, I have not been able to bring up any authorization
system to work ( PolicyKit, Polkit-0.9, Polkit-Qt, Polkit-Qt-1, ConsoleKit ).
May be my fault. In former times, I submitted a "su" and I was able to set
time and timezone, as an example. Now, beeing in South America, I had all the
time GMT ! _My_ Laptop, island environment, and I had to change time/timezone
direct in /etc ! ( you are not allowed to save.....)

My real problem is, that I am not at all more sure, what is happening. I had
kdm working perfect until I upgraded kdebase-workspace to 4.4.1. kdm did not
work anymore. I did not change anything ! Is this a problem of kauth, D-Bus,
polkit etc. ? Or did I make a mistake ( if yes, what one ? downgrading kde
solves the problem ). Finally, I instalIed SLIM as login-manager. I could not
bring NetworkManager to work ! In one of your links I read, that it does not
work withouth kauth. So I am using now WICD, and it works smoothly. My
Kaddressbook does not work, it does not import data, it does not create new
one, nothing. Is something wrong ( KDE is still not ready ), or is this
related also to authorization ? Or did I make an error ? I do not know (
comment of some of the KDE developers: if you are not able to build, take a
distro ) . There is for sure a big lack of documentation !

I should remark, that I am an experienced builder of Linux systems from the
scratch. My KDE-4.4.1 is also working. But I am installing, step by step, the
external software I need . I hope, that a future KDE will not ask me for
sofisticated authorizations to install external packages.

In my company ( a big european one ), we had a very expensive program
"customer satisfaction". Ask the customer, what his problem is, and solve it.
Dont try to sell anything else ! ( as I was already insulted by one of the
developers, I would not be a customer, as I do not pay him, I would like to
clarify that a customer in this sense is the one sitting at the other side of
the desk, regardless if he pays for the product or not ). After reading a lot
of comments in many forums, it seems to me, that nobody really asked for
authorization in this form as "conditio sine non quo" . Authorization should
be an option, as somebody suggested.

Glad to hear, that I am not the only one who does not understand it

No Idea.
