Hmmmmm.  That's new, and good, info.  But by adding the line below I got

Yeah, I know.  If I want to be truly mobile and ultimately seamless, I'm 
gonna have to pull info from the AP and store it in a file somewhere.  I 
think, as you say below,  that means wpa_supplicant.  I understood 
almost half of the README.  :)

How you've responded now is a great help.  Thanks for the link.  Didn't 
think to look under Wireless Tools.  It's really a good starting point.
