As an update I found this out. ------A)-If I insert the stick after boot up AND restart hal then start kde the stick is recognised ------B)-If I insert the stick after boot up BUT do not re-start hal then start kde, the stick is not seen ------B)-If I remove the stick after A) it still appears on the desktop dialog Clearly there is something wrong with hal configuration. I am using the installation and configuration as recommended here:- http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/view/cvs/general/hal.html I do not have a udev rule for hal as the last time I tried such the nouveau driver refules to allow startup. advice will be appreciated luxInteg -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
