Hi, I have just finished "upgrading" from LFS 6.5/blfs-svn-* to LFS 6.7/blfs-book-svn-html-2010-11-09 VMWare machine which is working ... well, with the essential software I daily use.
Please, let me renew the impression of how good the books are!
I am going to ask for help for fixing some issues left during the build.
Now just let me share the last problem I had to solve, building
OpenOffice-3.2.1.
The chapter in BLFS is very good, but will not allow successful building,
without some minor modifications (which took me quite a while to find the the
solution).
First, a typo:
download is Ooo_3.2.1-build_with_db5-1.patch
instructions : “patch -Np1 -i ../OOo_3.2.1-with-system-db5-1.patch &&”.
Second, in the core code, lbnames.h, has restriction to gcc <= 4.4
LFS 6.7 instructs to install 4.5.1, so, with a unsupported gcc error message,
make stops.
The attatceh pathc, tested against gcc 4.5.1, but to be tested again in the
future OpenOffice and gcc (< 5) releases, solved the problem.
