I think it's kind of messy. From my experience, I'd regard the 0.9 series as unstable - I've had a lot of issues while tracking recent Gnome development, since they've had a number of API breaks in the introspection data format. That said, it does seem to have stabilised in the last few releases, and I believe current Gnome (2.32) requires a recent 0.9 series gobject-introspection package... Simon.
