I didn't run autoconf the first time and it failed so I tried the sed
and it worked. Tried out a svnadmin create and co,edit and commit and
all was in order.
Unpacked a fresh source tree and did the macro edit and autoconf and
this worked also.
BTW there are 2 -- if test "$apu_db_version" != "4"; then
and 1 -- elif test "$apu_db_version" != "4"; then
