In fact, the current version is ~/.gimp-2.6/ and yes, I tried deleting that (assumed it would happily recreate it, which it did, but I did have a backup jsut in case). > Also, are the slowdowns in any way > similar to the slow resize issues you had before with xorg-server-1.9.X? > > -- DJ Lucas > Can I reply 'yes and no' ? ;-) When the current problem first hit me, I'd had a few other things open and the box had started swapping. At that time, redrawing the gimp main window (after changing desktop) was similar to that issue. And when I open the perspective tool it produces a small window showing the "magic numbers" for the transform. I don't remember noticing a long delay for that window to render in the past, but it is now very noticeable (even after reverting the expat fix, I now notice some delay). But no, the main part of the problem is very different - variously, moving the perspective controls (at the corners of the image on the main window) has sometimes *not* redrawn the image in the preview, or sometimes I can't move them at all, or can only move one of them once. At first (no preview) I thought the tool settings had become altered, but changing them didn't seem to help. Last thing last night I decided to take another look at distros to see what they are doing. As usual, couldn't connect to fedora gitweb (too busy), so I've got some srpms instead, and patches from debian, to look at. When I looked at gentoo, I realised they don't have the gimp depending on expat. Digging round, mine is pulling in expat because of fontconfig, so that is another thing for me to look at. On the bright side, I've moved on to gimp-2.6.11 in case it helped. It didn't make any difference, but when I'd tried that version in the past I'd had a usability issue with ufraw (bottom of main window still had a message, which prevented the ratio from the 'crop' tool appearing) and that problem has disappeared. Also, I'm now on the 1.9.3 rc2 xorg server. ĸen -- das eine Mal als Tragödie, das andere Mal als Farce -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
