Thanks to all who spent some time on my problem - but I gave up.
I have anyway a working version of Ghostscript with the built-in FreeType.

I consider LFS and BLFS as an educational project (apart of trying to install 
the newest Linux code on an old Apple machine),
so I _like_ having problems, at least if I can solve them.
Just copying the instructions from the book without any problem does not bring 
much expertise along.
But this one learned me that I still have a long way to go…
