Okay ! that took care of S25random. (and in part of gpm)

With gpm my setup is using a KVM-switch (ps2 for mouse & keyboard)
and the box I'm working on only takes USB, so I used one of those
splitter-contraptions that merges two ps2 males to a single usb-male.
I had to re-compile the kernel to include support for legacy /dev/psaux
support ... and now: have mouse, will click!

ye-gods you won't believe the amount of typo's and the constant switching
using Alt-F1 (links browser) and Alt-F2 (compiling) - what a joy the mouse is!
