Have you tried openprinting? http://www.openprinting.org/printers Is it like an Oki OL400? They say that works. Try their ppd? http://www.openprinting.org/printer/Oki/Oki-OL400 My printer's a Samsung so my experience won't help very much. I do install foomatic; I don't know if it's needed but it's working so I stopped fiddling.
