I am using wicd (which also has a great KDE frontend) instead of 
networkmanager since I couldn't get the latter to work on BLFS. This was 
several months ago, don't know if networkmanager is actually functional now 
with Krejzi's updates.
The networkmanager frontend is a part of kde-workspace and should get 
installed automatically if networkmanager is detected during configuration.
