that might be a problem. all low-cost adsl-routers i know just handle either just 1 external ip or 1 external netmask where as the second type is not easy to find. i never have seen one which can handle multiple external ip-ranges. even the devices which support an ip-range and not only 1 address, sometimes have limitations like netmask /28 or /29. this is not a technical issue but marketing: the same device is sold for a lower price with /28 and a much higher price for a /24 (zyxel i one i know of) i guess cisco has devices you need, but that's certainly not low-cost! i never had to setup a configuration with multiple external ip-ranges. have a look at "man ip" and "man ip-route". > b) couple of private networks Adresses/masks (static) though 1 has a dhcp > server with some IPaddresses leased for part of the subnet only i always do dhcp. most dhcp-server can handle 'pseudo static' addresses by assigning an ip to a mac-address. so i don't have to walk around to edit each machines ip-setup, just update the server by adding some lines to the dhcp.config. tobias -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
