On my current LFS SVN build (7.3-rc1 with the later changes, but trying eudev) I had a problem printing the cups test page from the browser - unsupported format "text/plain"
Looking in the error log I found [cups-driverd] Bad driver information file "/usr/share/cups/drv/cupsfilters.drv" Google wasn't particularly helpful (lots of mentions of this for various specific printers, and other mentions in passing on bad distro updates). So, I looked at what had changed since my previous build - cups-filters, poppler, and that was about it, even the version of cups is the same. I didn't feel very confident about going back to cups-filters-1.0.24, which was what I had been using, but I gave it a go. Had to apply the code parts of the poppler diff to get it to compile. Printing is now working again. This is with an Epson stylus photo r360. ISTR a problem on this printer with a version of cups-filters which didn't make it into the book, so my advice for anyone getting problems when they upgrade part of the printing stack is to try using a defferent version of the filters. The current 1.0.29 and patch is in both arch and fedora-18 so the problem is obviously not common! Oh for the days when cups included everything! ĸen -- das eine Mal als Tragödie, das andere Mal als Farce -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
