Why?  The actual file is not changed while it is in use, although the 
directory is changed.  The old file just has the references reduced by 
one, but not removed until all open instances are closed.

We run strip in Chapter 6 of LFS and strip runs on its own binary.

Again, I don't see why you think you need debugging symbols in sbin 
binaries.
