I followed the procedure  for pcre-8.33  as  in the blfs book  but  and when I 
come to do glib   pcre could not be found and I look    and lo there was a 
/lib/pkgconfig.  And I just used some such.  

SO are you saying then it is wise to move   stuff (and it is only for pcre )  
in /lib/pkgconfig to /usr/lib/pkgconfig ?
