Look at the smbd/nmbd logs in /var/log/

Also, verify your samba configuration.

I don't have any logfiles for smbd/nmbd. The only thing I find in the logs
is from boot.log:

Jun 09 16:07:51 +02:00 lfs Starting nmbd...FAIL
Jun 09 16:07:51 +02:00 lfs Starting smbd...FAIL

My smb.conf is the suggested minimum (for a start).

My kernel is 3.9.5 configured with the .config file from my host
installation (SuSE 12.3). Could this be a kernel problem ? The reason I am
using this config file is, that when I configure the kernel from scratch no
modules are loaded, so I obviously have a kernel problem. But I am unsure if
this is also the reason for this ?

Any suggestions to troubleshooting this would be very much appreciated !

Niels
