I am trying to install polkit-0.110 on a machine with these:-
dual-core amd64
gcc-4.8.1
gobject-introspection-1.36.0
. Make ends like so

I had the same result with polkit-0.111. The problem seems to be related to
the new version of gobject-introspection I am using.
I looked throug ./configure ---help and the only switch relating to gobject
is to disable it. And since I went through great lengths to install gobject-
intospection as a polkit dependency I do not want to disable it.
advice would be appreciated
