I just went and built gs-9.07 from a script I had on my development
system. The build was without problems and the tiger came up fine.
I'll note that I build over ssh and having gs render the tiger happens
on the development system, but displays on my normal user system.

It's an acquired taste. It's also an awful amount of work. I've been
working on building a 7.4 BLFS on my development for about 2 weeks and
am only part way done.

On the other hand, BLFS is not really designed for one to build
everything. On my day-to-day system, I've only built (upgraded) about
10 packages in the last 6 months. Once you have things the way you
want, there's little need to upgrade. My previous version of LFS/BLFS
went 7 years before I felt I needed to do a complete upgrade.

I have a sever still running LFS-6.4. There hasn't been a need to do a
full update there since April 2009. I think that was because the ISP
said they couldn't support the old hw. We have another server that was
built in 2006 that still runs fine.
