This is an interesting idea, but I have a few questions about it. I
don't know how well it's supported. From what I can tell, it's based on
GTK+2 and I don't know how well that will continue to be supported.

We had a go at Trinity a while back as an alternative to KDE3, but that
project didn't really have the support needed to keep up to date,
especially to keep Qt3 up to date. I don't know what kind of ongoing
support GTK+2 will have.

I'm willing to look at Mate, but I think we would need to assure
ourselves that upstream long term support would be available. I see
that it is supported by the Linux Mint developers, so the support issue
may be OK.
