Is anyone apart from me using gvolwheel ?

I'm asking because when I updated my list of current packages I
noted that althought it built ok on ppc, it didn't work. But I only
noticed that by accident (clicked on the wrong menu entry - sound
isn't connected on my ppc box). But a few hours ago I had reason to
upload some photos from my camera, and one short video clip, to one
of my x86_64 machines. Tried to run gvolwheel to set the audio
volume for the video, but nothing happened. Retried with strace, but
it still just hangs and there is no obvious error message.

Looking at the packages I built, almost everything was unchanged
(these were all LFS-7.4 test runs), but on the x86_64 box where
gvolwheel doesn't work I see that I first built cairo-1.12.14 [
without tee ], built gvolwheel after that, then later upgraded to
cairo-1.12.16 when firefox failed to compile. On the ppc I used
1.12.16 from the start.

This doesn't seem a likely cause of problems, but AFAICS nothing
else has changed. I see that gvolwheel _is_ linked to cairo libs,
so I suppose I'll have to try swapping versions when I have time.

In the meantime, comments from anyone else who has built gvolwheel
on recent cairo (particularly answering "does it work ?", with the
cairo version) would be welcome. I suppose most people are using
that [ expletive deleted ] package called pulse ?
