As I have mentioned, I'm testing make-4.0 against the packages in the BLFS books : 3.82 gave problems with a few (gstreamer, one of its plugin packages, and I think one other package) and 4.0 has a few backward-incompatible changes/fixes. This is only a test to check that the packages build and install.
My initial results are at http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/~ken/make-4.0-testing/ - a file of everything I've built so far, and a summary which will eventually collate the notes for this and the next build. Initial summary : only qemu had a problem - there is a workaround in BLFS, and one of its maintainers has a patch to fix it. In this build, a few packages were out of date. I also avoid a *lot* of traditional xorg packages and most of the gnome packages which are still in BLFS. The next build will aim to cover those, as well as the other missing packages. What I don't intend to test is new packages added to BLFS since 9th October. ĸen -- das eine Mal als Tragödie, dieses Mal als Farce -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
