Hi Adnane, you can build YUM on a standard LFS, but it will not work. It has
runtime dependencies – one is RPM. To run YUM, RPM must be installed – and
in fact you need to build LFS with RPM right from the start. If you want to
pursue this, you are welcome to try the LFS RPM build system, wich can be
downloaded from https://github.com/nielsterp

Once you have finished this build script you have a LFS with RPM, ready to
install yum. A few things to consider, though:

YUM requires several other packages, that you might have to install.

YUM is nothing without one or more repositories. If you end up being
dependent on one big distributions YUM repository – why not then use that
distribution instead of LFS ?

If you install and use YUM, then you have stepped away from the idea of a
collection of compiled-from-source-on-this-machine programs that is central
to LFS. You also totally loose the educational aspect. So then, again, why
not just use one of the big distributions ?

Like you, YUM was on top of my wishlist when I started to play around with
RPM. But when I realized what it really is, I lost my interest and just kept
the RPM system. And I have found it to be an extremely efficient and useful
tool for package management. You – and everybody else - should give it a
try.

P.S. I am updating right now, and I expect to upload a version based on the
new LFS 7.5

Regards

Niels
