[blfs-support] question concerning working with links

Hello,

1) I have mounted an external harddisk to e.g. /dev/sdb1
2) On this drive I have e.g. the directory 
        /emails/user1 and 
        /emails/user2
3) Dovecot stores my emails in the directories
        /home/user1/Maildir/.INBOX.blfs and 
        /home/user1/Maildir/.INBOX.backup

I would like to make a link between the harddrive - directory and the
Maildir - directory so that only the mails inside of the ".INBOX.backup"
dir are stored on the harddrive. 

something like 
ln /mnt/usbdrive/email/user1 /home/user1/Maildir/.INBOX.backup

maybe I am missing some options ?
