I'm picking up again on getting my printer to work with my BLFS systemd installation. In looking over the changelogs for the development versions of systemd and non-systemd BLFS I noticed that the systemd version installs cups-1.7.5 whereas the non-systemd version installs cups-2.0.0 (plus a few dependencies).

I also noticed that there are many other cases where the non-systemd version installs later versions of many software packages.

I'd like to keep my BLFS installation as up to date as possible. Does it make sense for me to try to keep up with the changelogs? If so, what about installing the later version packages shown in the non-systemd changelog as opposed to the earlier versions in the systemd path?
