Other comments about gnash made me re-look at flash. I downloaded the

usr/lib/kde4:
kcm_adobe_flash_player.so

usr/bin:
flash-player-properties

I'm not really concerned about the .desktop or .png files, but does
anyone know what these are for? I did run flash-player-properties and
the defaults seem OK to me. It seems like the only thing I really need
is libflashplayer.so. Am I missing anything?

If you don't need to change the settings, then you don't need the properties executable.

Do note however that when you right click on a flash applet and click on "Global Settings" it tries to open flash-player-properties.

As for the kcm, it's just integration of flash-player-properties into KDE4 system settings.
