This is incorrect. LMDB has had many releases,

From that page:
Development occurs in the OpenLDAP Project's git repo in the
mdb.master branch. A clone of just the LMDB code is also available
on Gitorious.

The link for OpenLDAP appears to only be for openldap.

Apparently you didn't follow it far enough:

1.x Development branch:

<http://www.openldap.org/devel/gitweb.cgi?p=openldap.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/mdb.master>

0.9.x development branch:

<http://www.openldap.org/devel/gitweb.cgi?p=openldap.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/mdb.RE/0.9>

URL for releases ?

There are no tarballs for LMDB at this time, although it has been discussed for the future. Initially, LMDB was only targetted for OpenLDAP. Releases are currently tagged, however. Try:
<https://gitorious.org/mdb/mdb/source/6586299f551b58c87ffe45f80c3082b6e776d448:>

and then click the down-arrow icon in front of the word "branch" to see the various branches and tags.
