Sure, I _did_ rewrite all the init scripts, functions, ipup/down, helpers and rc. What had to be done was all in the open, nothing hidden up sleeves. The startup scripts are considerably simpler, IMNSHO. functions gives better service. rc does work entirely differently-- the paradigm for a runlevel is "You started it, you stop it.
