Sometimes upstream makes stealth updates. After we add a package to the
book, I update the repository at osuosl. I do that virtually daily. As a
part of that process I check both that the link works and that the md5sum
matches.
Go to ftp://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/blfs/conglomeration/rsync/ and you will
find that the md5sum for rsync-3.1.2.tar.gz is
0f758d7e000c0f7f7d3792610fad70cb
Why don't you get both packages and do a diff to see what changes were
made, if any. Sometimes it is only a timestamp.
