Other issues for raedon are the installation of firmware. See the Xorg drivers page.

OK Bruce, I am in WAY over my head here. I have never loaded firmware in a linux kernel before. (Which by the way makes me think I don't really NEED it his time.) I went to the linuxfromscratch firmware page and downloaded everything that looked like it might apply to me and put it all in the /lib/firmware directory. Then I added all the file names to the CONFIG_EXTRA_FIRMWARE line in the kernel .config file and tried a make. I got the following errors:

  MK_FW firmware/R300_cp.bin.gen.S
make[1]: *** No rule to make target 'firmware/R300_cp.bin', needed by 'firmware/R300_cp.bin.gen.o'. Stop.
Makefile:949: recipe for target 'firmware' failed
make: *** [firmware] Error 2

What am I missing??? The ".gen.S" from the error above is not part of the file name.
