Paul, thanks, but I can't seem to do that. In this case, the document (apart from the first line) is not in a latin language - I'm trying to copy text from a translation of the UDHR. I just retried okular - 'select all' appears to have used pdftotext, which I had alreeady tried - I just get the English title line, In epdfview, clicking anywhere on the page scrolls it, clicking on the background at left and dragging the mouse onto the page scrolls forward, doing the same from the right scrolls backward (I think - I'm trying to interpret the Indian page numbers).
