On my sysvinit 7.9 I have gtkmm-2.24.4 with glibmm-2.46.3 and
glib-2.46.2, so I now see that the older glibmm with current
gtk2mm was fine for my build.

Which unfortunately means that I have no idea why it does not
compile for you.

Like many recent reports, this is puzzling and I cannot offer any
suggestions.  Unfortunately, we have few people who admit to using
the current versions of BLFS and of those each person builds only
what is of interest to him or her self.
