I mostly use the gold linker, and over the past year I've added a few workarounds for specific packages. Now, I'm building current LFS/BLFS (LFS from 11th, BLFS from 14th plus newer xorg-server and ati video driver). Not much has changed from 8.0 - binutils is newer, and my build order for firefox has changed to pull in pulseaudio, and therefore to move vorbis-tools earlier in my build.
And vorbis-tools failed, trying to link oggenc, in resample.o from resample.c, undefined reference to 'sin'. Google quickly found a reference (not recent) with a patch which confirmed it is a gold issue, need to add -lm. I've added that in my LDFLAGS for this package, it links. But I've been built vorbis-tools with gold several times in the last year, not sure why it only now broke for me. Still, at least it's fun [ for some obscure definition of fun ]. ĸen -- `I shall take my mountains', said Lu-Tze. `The climate will be good for them.' -- Small Gods -- http://lists.linuxfromscratch.org/listinfo/blfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
