After several attempts, I found out that I forgot creating the configuration file for GTK+-2 (/etc/gtk-2.0/gtkrc). To make it work, besides installing Tango, I have to configure GTK+2 by adding gtk-icon-theme-name = "Tago" to the gtkrc file. In fact, I can't select the icons theme through the configuration menu. Instead of it, I have to modify /etc/gtk-2.0/gtkrc through the console. Good enough for now, and Tango icons look fine.
