I forgot to publish a fix, sorry. LC_ALL takes precedence over LANG, so even if you set LANG in /etc/profile/i18n.sh, it is not used... That would explain it. I believe this is also why the latest chromium didn't build for me. I will verify after church. Thanks! Success!
