Thanks, but I think the SandyBridge is just too old for intel to
care about. My posts from tonight show that, via debian, I got an
update for the haswell. Yes, I will of course go for kernel updates
when they appear (at the moment the fixes for Spectre are at an
early stage of discussion, meanwhile I've updated firefox to help
with mitigation.
I'll reply to your earlier post in a moment.
