When I tried to make check for libffi in the instructions for 8.1
(http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/view/stable/general/libffi.html)
most of the test failed with some "trap ... opcode" failure.
As per
http://www.linuxforen.de/forums/showthread.php?280266-BLFS-7-10-python-libffi-Probleme-auf-Celeron,
I added
CFLAGS=-march=native CXXFLAGS=-march=native
to the ./configure step with which I also could successfully execute
make check.
I am not sure about the policies for the book but I believe this would
be worth mentioning.
