That book was completed before Google bought it, and it is now about

Seriously, it is a completely different animal and build methodology. It
is all built in one large source tree, with local modifications to the
sources of several sub-projects, and entirely cross compiled. I suppose
one could tear it apart and build piece by piece, but what exactly do
you expect to gain over and above what you already have in LFS?
Everything you learned in LFS applies directly to Android.
